I downloaded the program yesterday and it worked wonderfully  Wink

The built in XP defragger kept stopping after about 4% when trying to defrag my C partion.

Another defrag program that I downloaded, completed but left huge amounts of the disk fragmented.

I have google desktop (I turned that and Kaspersky off) and your program left all my partitions looking wonderful.

The question,

I have set up JKdefrag to run once a day but would like it to use the "a 3" option.

How do I do that?

I know how to do it from start/run but not when using 'scheduled tasks'.

thanks again,

Michael

When you run JkDefrag without specifying -a parameter then 3 is set (as default) so you don't need to do anything.

Ok, easy:

You go to your tasks, open the one that is supposed to start jkdefrag with a right click and select options.

In Win 2k (and I hope in your modern xp as well) you get a line that looks like this:

"D:\! Work\!Eigene Dateien\JkDefrag-3.33\JkDefrag.exe"

and that can be edited. Enter the options in that line BEHIND the ""

like this:

"D:\! Work\!Eigene Dateien\JkDefrag-3.33\JkDefrag.exe" -a 42 d:

or whatever. Wink

"D:\! Work\!Eigene Dateien\JkDefrag-3.33\JkDefrag.exe" -a 42 d:

or whatever. Wink

When running jkdefrag as a Scheduled Task, I would recommend that you add the -q switch at the end so that the program automatically stops and "goes away" after finishing. I noticed I had a couple of machines that were still running much later if I didn't add that, so the line from Kruge would look like:

"D:\! Work\!Eigene Dateien\JkDefrag-3.33\JkDefrag.exe" -a 42 d: -q

or whatever. Wink  Cheesy

Also check out the GUIs at the bottom of the JKD homepage in the "Contributed by other people" section.

When running jkdefrag as a Scheduled Task, I would recommend that you add the -q switch at the end so that the program automatically stops and "goes away" after finishing.
The commandline version does that automatically, you don't have to add the "-q" switch. It also runs slightly faster and has a little less overhead, because it does not draw the diskmap on the screen. To use the commandline version all you have to do is change "jkdefrag.exe" inside the scheduled task options into "jkdefragcmd.exe".
