can anyone shed some light on how to defrag an external hard drive using JKDfrag?

I would recommend MyDefrag using the Data Disk Weekly script.

Just like usual you do in your hard drive. Command your defrag software to defrag your usb or external hard drive.

You can also choose to use a Ausologics program..it is free of cost and is easy to operate. Just google it and you'd find something relevant.
