Hi JK,

First, thanks again for JKDefrag  Cool

While I'm defragmenting my drives (got 640gig on 13 partitions), I realized that I often tend to do this once I'm finished with my computer session and I then thought how great it would be if we could have an option that would auto shutdown Windows ( the PC ) once the defrag is finished.

This way, once I'm done, I could just leave the PC and the ScreenSaver would start after a few minutes and I'd know the PC would shutdown by itself automatically once the defrag task is done ... I think that'd be awesome.

I could always program myself a batch file come to think of it, but I'm not sure if it could be done for the screensaver.

Anyhow, not sure if you think it would fit with JKDefrag philosophy but if it does, super!  If not, still loving it

Regards...

P.S. Might be a good idea to cancel the autoshutdown if the user exits before Defrag finishes by itself.  Also, I'd add '-- Auto Shutdown of Windows (or PC) Active!' to the title after thinking how surprised people would be if they were running JKDefrag in the background while, say, doing the internet and suddenly the PC would shutdown because they forgot there were running it with the switch active Cheesy (just a friendly suggestion... typing what comes to mind while I'm here   )

I doubt that is something that would be added into JKD itself but could be something one of the GUI makers could consider. In the meantime there are programs out there that can shut the computer down automatically after a process finishes, I have been using DShutdown recently for that same purpose:

Just an FYI, you should actually get a better defrag after startup rather than before shutting down. Though having said I have a tendency to run it before shutdown to

AutoShutDown is an option in the works for the scripting engine of JKDefrag 4.  But until it comes out, you should be able to do what JDPower suggests.

Use a batch file to run JKDefrag like this:

Code:
jkdefragcmd.exe -a blah blah blah
shutdown /s

I'll give it a look, although I already created my own batch file with arguments so that when I get a new version (which I unzip into a 'Util' Subfolder which is not part of the path, I don't have to copy the execs into a path folder.. the batch allows me to run it from its folder.  Just added the Shutdown -s -t 0 command afterward.

Also, from what I read on the following posts, it'll be a feature added to the script language of v4.x  (didn't know about this new script thing until now.. Glad to see it's coming).

I hear ya Smiley  Sometimes I'll defrag while programming or reading the news/browsing the net but if I'm gaming or watching  a movie, I'll wait 'till the end of the session too.

Great news.. I wasn't aware of this new scripting language coming up for v4.
