Request script for my configuration

Hi, my name is Renato, I'm 53 yo brazilian curious with computers. I've got two kids (kids?!! they kill me if they read that, rs...) , one is studying cinema and the other, aeronautical sciences. I've just discovered the MyDefrag and as I'm a beginner I'd like someone to help me making a personalized script. My PC is used to:
- play Flight Simulator 2004
- edit videos with Adobe Premiere 3
- listen music and watch movies
I'd like to get in the begin and outer clusters the files needed to start the system (OS Win7). Must I know what files are these?
Then to play FS2004, using Premiere and so the rest of the files (others from Win, Office, players, etc.)
As an example, we would let the files in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9 first of all and unmovable (as they are only read), what you think? The files in the subfolders with extension BGL and BMP could be first as this files contains information about the scenery, wich is in constant charging, changing in the RAM.
I guess I talked so much but to finish, my PC configuration is:
Motherboard: ASRock N68 VS3-UCC
Processor: AMD Athlon II X4 645
RAM: 4GB, DDR3
Video board: NVIDIA GEForce 210 1GB
HD: WD 500GB SATA
Thanks.
P.S.: I don't have a very-good-English. Pls excuse for that and let me know if I got misanderstood. My natural language is portuguese from Brazil and if it can help someone, pls let me know too.

I would simply use the system disk monthly, than daily the daily script and weekly the weekly script. I recommend it to you. It should do it for you and keep it as good performance. Just try it. If you're not satisfied, we will see what we can do for you.

Hello, Renato!
My name is Pedro, and I'm a fellow Brazilian, so I'll post this message in English for all Forum users to see, and in Portuguese for you or any other Portuguese-speaking people.
BloodySword is correct. The default scripts that come with MyDefrag can give very good results.
If you want, you can instead use my Jaspion Optimize Scripts, which are based on the default MyDefrag scripts and on Darlis' Optimized System Disk Scripts. I have made tweaks that aim at better performance, fast defragmentation, and easy configuration.
My scripts can be found here:
http://www.mydefrag.com/forum/index.php?topic=5843.0
You will see that they come with a few .txt files where you can configure the file selection for specific zones. Simply add the DirectoryPath for your important games and programs to the correct file. In this case, you'll want to edit "Zone 3 - Fastest Zone.txt".
Then do a Level 3 defragmentation and all your most important files will be sped up to the max.
My scripts (as well as MyDefrag default scripts and Darlis' scripts) already place the boot files at an optimal position, so you don't need to worry about them.

http://www.mydefrag.com/forum/index.php?topic=5843.0

Thank you, Peter. Please excuse the delay in responding. I used the default scripts, as you recommended. I downloaded the version 5.0 of the Jaspion, I'm trying to study them but still have some doubts: the file "Zone 3 - Fastest Zone.txt" provides instructions that puts files registry first, in a place where disk access is faster, is it? These files are in the folder "Windows\System32\Config". Well, to use their scripts "Optimize System Disk - Level nn", I would need:
- Change "?" by "C:\" in the archives .MyD e txt
- Replace "Windows\System32\Config" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9" in "Zone 3 - Fastest Zone.txt"
Was it, Pedro? And there would be no change for me to do in the archives .MyD and txt?
Sorry to ask but do not have to test if it works or not since I have no way to verify the disk, if a file is right in front of another, after defragmented. At least I do not know to check.
Oh, and finally, after these changes, I would be enough to delete files that are in "C:\Program Files\MyDefrag v4.3.1\Scripts" and copy your now changed, there?
Thanks again, Pedro.

Obrigado, Pedro.

The default txt CONFIGFILE for Zone 3 configures the placement of the registry files in the fastest area of the disk. You
don't
need to replace anything in the scripts. The question mark "?:" replaces any character (so the scripts work even if your drive letter isn't C:).
You also
don't
need to replace "Windows\System32\Config" with "Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9". Simply
add
your game folder, but leave the registry in place (unless you want to experiment with the positioning of the registry). Example:
Original:
Code:
DirectoryPath("?:\Windows\System32\Config")
or FileName("ntuser*")
or FileName("UsrClass*")
or FileName("*.log")
and not(!include "CONFIGFILE Zone 8 - E-mail Databases.txt"!)
Your file:
Code:
DirectoryPath("?:\Windows\System32\Config")
or FileName("ntuser*")
or FileName("UsrClass*")
or FileName("*.log")
or DirectoryPath("C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9")
and not(!include "CONFIGFILE Zone 8 - E-mail Databases.txt"!)

To see a file's position, and see if it's fragmented, you can use this excellent tool:
http://www.mydefrag.com/forum/index.php?topic=2673.0
To use the new scripts you can replace the old files, yes. Just make sure the new files have been configured like the old ones.
I hope this helps!
