I always move all my data to the end of disk and get rid of hiberfil.sys before I create a static-size pagefile, and then run a monthly defrag after.  The C: partition on my laptop has 50.1GB of 415GB free.  Most of (>90%) the free space is at the end of the partition.  When I ran a Monthly System Disk script this morning, I noticed that pagefile.sys was at the end of all the data and not near the beginning like it's been for months!  It's not fragmented or anything like that...just moved.  How is this possible?

MyDefrag will always try to move the pagefile to the last zone (spacehogs), but the pagefile is normally locked by Windows so cannot be moved. It's not locked if you boot from CDROM or something like that. The pagefile can have moved because of something else, but if it was because of MyDefrag then it was by design. Most computers have plenty of memory and don't use the pagefile much, so the best place for it is out of the way behind the more important data.

Did you have an OS crash (bug check, aka Blue Screen Of Death) lately? BSODs cause a pagefile move due to the way they save memory dumps.
