I used ShadowProtect Desktop to create a full image backup.  I'm able to mount my backup as a writable mapped drive.  I want to defrag/compress the backup image to remove all free space.  When I run MyDefrag, it doesn't list my backup mapped drive.  I try to force it by specifying the drive on the command line, but the program immediately says it's finished and basically still doesn't see the drive.  I figured out that the old JkDefrag works so I've worked around the problem.  However I'd prefer to use MyDefrag in the future since it's the supported version.  Does anyone know why MyDefrag doesn't see my mapped drive with the backup image?  SInce JkDefrag works, I wonder if something was broken or a feature lost in the new version.

My guess would be that this "Shadowprotect" software does not register a device name in Windows. There is a difference in the disk detection logic between JkDefrag and MyDefrag that would explain it. Perhaps I can do something about it in the next version if you could make a debug logfile, see I have a problem! for more information. For the moment I'm afraid that "Shadowprotect" is not compatible with MyDefrag.

Thanks for being willing to look into the problem.  Attached is the debug file.  Since the program doesn't list the drive in the UI, I created a TESTDEBUG script and ran it from the command line using the -v option.  Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you very much for the debug logfile, I appreciate it. Your "Shadowprotect" disk is mounted on drive "K:", right? If so then my guess was right, it does not register a device name in Windows (such as '\Device\HarddiskVolume3'). I suspect it also does not register a volumename (such as '\\?\Volume{58a98bc5-62f9-11e0-bdda-806e6f6e6963}\'), but I cannot be sure about that because you have 1 unmounted volume. You might want to submit a problem report to them, your problem is not caused by a bug in MyDefrag but by a deficiency in their software (I would not call it a bug).

Thanks for the information.  I submitted a ticket with StorageCraft.  If I hear anything, I'll let you know.

Just to keep you updated, I don't know if StorageCraft is going to fix the mount problem.  I submitted a ticket and it sounds like they may address my original problem.  The reason I was trying to defragment/compact my backup image is because I needed to shrink it so I could restore it to a smaller drive.  They said they'll look into the issue of restoring a backup to a smaller drive and didn't say if they'll fix the mount problem.  Both are probably an issue, but the biggest concern is the restore instead of the mount/defrag issue.  I'll keep a copy of JkDefrag just in case I need it again.
