I am using ImportListFromProgramHints in script. I find it very useful.

My use case is such that I am only trying to minimize program loading and not boot time.

I was reviewing some debug information and if I read it correctly, the PF files are ignored if over 30 days old. Can you explain the reasoning on this time? Also, can this be configured at run time to say 90 days or not ignore any no matter how old? ( I would expect Vista to do some house cleaning of prefetch files.) Thank you.

I have found that prefetch files older than 30 days are stale and useless, some of them can date back to when Windows was installed. They are usually cleaned up by Windows, but not always, for some reason. Also, if a program has not been used for more than 30 days then it is probably not worth the effort to optimize for it. Optimization takes time, it's an investment, paid back by faster usage. But if there is no usage then it's a useless investment.
