after analisys..
«

Hello,
i'm using 4.3.1, after it's analyse a drive (only analyse) it's stopping, until ok; at top of prog i see "pause, push space for continue" (i'm using french version
). I push space bar, mydefrag shutdown!
Why ? it's as that since any versions.
i'm on win7 x64; running of mydefrag normal.

You're probably running the "analyse only" script (other scripts don't pause). You need to choose another script in the script selector if you want to optimize your disk too.

@ Kasuha:
Every
script pauses after completion (except the Automatic ones).
This way, MyDefrag gives you a chance to look at how messy your file system is.
Unlike other defragmenters, you have to restart MyDefrag to run another script.

Well, no, they don't pause, they stop (after the very last drive) and the message is "Finished", not "Paused". Pause() is only used in AnalyzeOnly.

It would be only useful for people who want to run analysis and then decide on which script to use - but majority of users doesn't do that. And for the rest, it's just matter of one more double click.
It has been proposed before but I believe Jeroen said he's not going to implement that.

yes but on win7 x64 there is "UAC". it's bit more long, but it's more annoying.

Well, yes, you're right, I forgot about it even though I'm kinda battling it too.
My optimization script combo requires me to confirm that damn dialog six times, just because Jeroen thinks that the best strategy to optimize disks in one pass is to not allow multiple passes

I wonder why you need multiple passes. Perhaps a tip: put your passes in a single .bat file, then you only have to click the UAC once. For more information on the MyDefrag commandline see
Commandline.
Also, if you login as administrator then you won't get that UAC popup.

I'm using the script combo I posted some time ago in contributions section (it has evolved somewhat since then). All scripts but the last one are just moveuptozone commands vacating files to their appropriate zones, running from last zone to first zone. I hope that they won't be necessary after next MyDefrag release but with the current one this combo is my preferred way of handling my disk, even though I have to confirm UAC seven times.

They are in a single bat file and I am running as user with administrator rights and UAC pops up every time MyDefrag process is started. And for safety reasons I refuse to turn UAC off and there is no option in UAC to give a program an exception (I blame Microsoft for that).
But I'll take a better look at it, maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Decreasing number of UAC prompts to one was a big failure, whatever I tried it always asked me again for each MyDefrag start.
Also the batch file always crashed when I tried to use "start as administrator" on it but after I looked into it I found Windows were running it in a different directory for some strange reason and after I added cd to the proper directory to it it started working. And now I only need to confirm it once at the beginning. So thanks for nudging me to look into it again, now I only need to remember I must always start it as admin

If you open the properties of the batch file you can set the option to always run it as administrator (in the Compatibility tab).

For some reason this checkbox is greyed out for me.

Oh, I see. Doesn't work for batch files. Must be a feature.

In the end I found workaround for it - copied cmd.exe to the directory where my scripts are, renamed it to run.exe, made a shortcut for it to start the batch and voila - the checkbox was there.

Why did you need to copy and rename cmd.exe? Didn't it work by just adding cmd.exe first in the batch files shortcuts target field.
