Im using MyDefrag for almost two years now. Every computer I used it on works slower, after using System Disk Monthly script on system disk on all tested computers it was worse than before. Computers starts up from 2 up to 5 times slower than before using MyDefrag. Also on all compuets the disks works very loud after running this script. Im very disappointed. I can now clearly say after two years, that this program made more harm to all system disks I tested than it help. Seems to work fine on data disks after using Data Disk Monthly script. Maybe there's some configuratino settings Im using behind this. I would be very greatful for any feedback, any small tip that could help me what's wrong. Or maybe the program itself isnt very useful as it seems at first glance?

It happened both on Windows XP and Windows 7 32/64bit. On all systems there were no viruses or malware. Both on laptops and stationary computers. In windows 7 I always turn off system defragmenter service, windows serch, indexing service, and that service which loads all programs .dll, or something like that, after start up so later u can "faster" open the programs. Beside this I turn off hibernation.

You should check if Prefetch is enabled on all systems (you should have a c:\Windows\Prefetch\layout.ini file with a recent change date).
Note that after moving files on a Windows 7 system, the first reboot always takes longer because of Prefetch.

The Monthly scripts move a lot of data which causes a lot of stress to the disk. A healthy disk should have no problem with this but older ones may fail sooner.

Well, maybe I judge too fast by this first reboot which is really awfull. Didnt know first reboot always takes longer. My own PC is brand new and it doesnt really botter fragmented or not. I've called my friend he says eveything is fine now when he reboot/use his PC. My old PC guess was fine later on, but this laptop I was servicing for friend yesterday acts really bad, but it seems like it has some other problems included. Guess I got blinded by first reboot and was pretty angry at this laptop and exexaggerated with loud disk thing, sorry for that but I wanted a fast anwser as I cant find reason why it runs so slow after all I've done and which always helped everyone. Thansk for your replay. I dont wanna repeat those monthly scripts on and on so I will post in future and as for now try to observe more. Cheers.

Good that this has been cleared up now. The longer boot times on the first reboot can really confuse people since they expect the exact opposite.

You don't have to run the Monthly over and over, you won't get much more performance increase if you've already ran it once. The Weekly will do fine and move less data. You could also check out my Optimized System Disk scripts. They move less data without performance loss.
You can also take a look at my benchmarks to compare the boot times and data movement of different scripts and defragmenters.

Indeed very confusing as you've mentioned and hell yeah we do expect complete opposite. I think it should be stated somewhere so people were aware about this first reboot extended time. It isnt still quite clear for me why it takes so long. I understand Prefetch tracks most often used files. As for scritps I'm satisfied with the default ones but thank you for information. I will go trough that post later because now I've practicly only enter to check if there any new replays.

Edited: I really do think MyDefrag is an awesome tool. It made miracles on my 10 y old PC, on the "games" partition. Really improved performance where each bit was crucial. As for system disk I rarely use daily/weekly scripts. For some odd reason I would rather run monthly script again (especially in case I did some bigger reinstall or deletion and yeah I would face long reboot again. Once again thanks for explanation it seems small info but it was really huge for me.

Edited2: As for benchmarks, the results are absolutely unquestioned =)

I often tune-up Windows computers that have not been maintained or after infection removal.  I tell the customers that their computer will actually be quicker in a few days than it is when I return it.  Sometimes they are sceptical but when I check back on them in a few days they often comment that they were surprised to see the system get quicker.  It takes some time being worked and several restarts to optimize the prefetch but it does make a noticeable difference.
