Hi guys !

I'm very new to this defrag tool ! It's a friend that suggested to me...

I noticed that there are pre-built scripts and I want to know what is the best script for a File Server with Windows Server 2003 installed on it ?

I plan to run MyDefrag weekly...

Thanks in advance !

Use the System Disk Monthly script first, then the Weekly script weekly.
If the files are on a separate partition, use the Data Disk script on this one.

Sorry Im not sure if I understand...

I have to use the System Disk Monthly script only for the first time ?

Or I have to run three scripts one after the other ? If it's this, Do I have to schedule 3 tasks ?

Sorry but it's the first time I use MyDefrag...

Thanks !

Use the Monthly first, because it does a thorough optimization. You can use it every month if you want to, but if you have the files on the same partition as the system I wouldn't recommend it. Or you can change the script to not sort the last zone, since there is no performance gain in that, just a lot of unneccessary file movement.

You can use the weekly (and/or daily) directly after it, or the next week/day. It doesn't matter.
It depends on much optimization you want. The names of the scripts are just hints on how often you should run them.

Note that the installer already creates a monthly and daily task, if you don't uncheck the option.

Just to clarify something, our datas are on a different partition...

So if I summarize...

On the first week of each month I run the System Disk Monthly script and for the 3 others weeks I run the System Disk Weekly script.

After the System Disk(monthly/weekly) I run the Data Disk script.

Thanks again and again !

After the System Disk(monthly/weekly) I run the Data Disk script.
But only on the data disk! Do not use the System and Data Disk scripts on one partition. You'll get a lot of unnecessary file shuffling.

Yes, you can do it like that. Except that you should use the "Automatic" scripts, if you want to schedule them in the Windows Scheduler. These scripts will basically do the same as the System plus Data disk scripts, except that it is all combined in a single script and they have a few different settings special for automatic tasks.

p.s. The MyDefrag installer already creates 2 tasks for you (by default, you can turn the option off) for running daily plus monthly.
