I would suggest to add the following extentions of quite well know programs to the Optimize* Scripts:

.tib : Acronis TrueImage Files
.vdi : Virtual Box Disk Images
.vmdk : VMWare Disk Images
.vhd : Virtual PC Disk Images
.tc : TrueCrypt Container
.nrg : Nero Disk Images

Well.. Just an idea.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all files types you have mentioned are larger than 50MB in 99.99% of cases, so they end up in spacehog area anyway (according to 50MB+ criteria for spacehogs).

Thanks for sharing your idea, but as Quanthero said all files bigger than 50Mb are already included. For more information see What are SpaceHogs?

OK, you are totally right.

But then (to be consequent), you should also remove .iso, .vob and .dvr-ms from the extension list, as these files are also bigger than 50 MB in most cases.
Do you also think so?

I would say these files are spacehogs by their nature, not by their size.

Exactly! So why are they included in the extension list? Unnecessary as we found out in this thread.

I also think that .iso, .vob and .dvr-ms should be removed. They are indeed spacehogs because of their nature not their size, but they are definitely larger than 50MB so no need to include these file extensions into spacehog list.
Also, why .pdf is in the default spacehog list?

I would say they are often big, and reading time is not comparable to reader launching time and PDF decoding time.

The same is true to the extensions I listed at the beginning of the thread...
So, why is .iso included, but not nrg? (just an example)

As I now understand the extension list in MyDefrag should only contain files that are kind of archives/backups, but not too likely to exceed 50MB.
This is NOT the case for .iso, .vob and .dvr-ms.

-Not only archives/backup but all files where placement does not matter much.
-You are right in that size limit makes some extensions redundant. The list does not pretend to be complete nor ideal, some items could be removed.
- OTOH size is not always good criterium for all files. It depends on access patterns.
