MFT Fragmentation
«

Last night I ran OptimizeMonthly. It took a long time but according to the log, the disk was almost completely unfragmented. I used it for a while and decided to check to see what was happening. I was shocked to find that the MFT was fragmented after using the system for only a few minutes. Most surprisingly, the MFT was in one contiguous location with temporary internet files mixed in. How can that happen?

The html files were probably unmovable at the time you ran MyDefrag. When MyDefrag wanted to place the MFT it had to wrap around these unmovable files, by fragmenting the MFT. Wrap-around fragmentation is not as shocking as you seem to think, it causes very little performance loss because all the fragments are aligned. The next time the html files are movable MyDefrag will move them away and make the MFT contiguous.
