Hello,

I have a W2003 server with a 200 Gb disk (98% free) containing a lot (but not huge, ~5000) of small files (2kb).

When defragmenting, the CPU seems blocked at 100% on Free space (cancel after about 1 hour of work).

With debugging info, I get this interesting information on each file:

FreeSpaceTop=6669897
Files 6650, Directories 388, Clusters 295509
Step 2: Free space
Gap found: LCN=6669896, Size=42715920
d:\System Volume Information\tracking.log
  Cannot move file away because no gap is big enough: 67[5]
Gap found: LCN=6669896, Size=42715920
d:\Test\0000000000-003.txt
  Cannot move file away because no gap is big enough: 73[1]
...

I'm using version 3.8.
Any idea?

Thanks,
Jean-Michel

How about that! I have taken a deep look in the sources and I have found the problem. A bug, yes indeed! It will be fixed in the next release, which I hope to publish in a few days.

I have just released JkDefrag v3.9 containing a fix for this bug. Could you test it for me and let me know?
