Hi Jeroen!

I using an old version our defragmenters started by scheduler. Version is 2.20, running in a SAN storage in a W2k controller.  Volumes sizes over 800GBs, i woud like defragging multiple volumes at once because is a long process. I welcome new version of your program and new defrag methodes, but JKDefragCMD is send a message "I am already running: JkDefragCmd.exe".
Please make a switch enabling this type of usage.

Sincerelly:
Stefan

Sorry my bad english.

Thanks for your suggestion, I appreciate it! Most computers have only 1 harddisk controller and can only process 1 harddisk at a time, so an option like you suggest is useful only for a very small number of very expensive computers. But it's an simple option to add, so I have put it on the list.

Start simply a copy of JKDefrag with other name. WFM

Yes, copying the executable "JkDefrag.exe" to something else will work. Good suggestion, why didn't I think of that myself? The "already running" check works by looking if another program with the same filename is already running. Copying to another directory does not work, only copying to another name.

Can you tell me more? If you want to run 3 copies simultaneously then simply make 3 copies, all with different names. I haven't tried it, but it should work...

I have here jkdefrag.exe, jkdefrag311.exe (both version 3.11) and the older versions starting from 3.7 in each case than jkdfrag3x.exe. Everything in a folder.

If I start only jkdefrag.exe and afterwards jkdefrag311.exe, so gibts with Jkdefrag311 in the log only [ i]12:45:42 I to already running: JkDefrag.exe[/i ]. Hmm thereby notices to me now that for the log the standard file name (jkdefrag311.log) is used and not into the commandline indicated (-l "E:\JkDefragGUI\jkdefrag_z_004.log").

An older version after or forwards jkdefrag v3.11 is further possible, not v3.11 several times.

The "jkdefrag311" version will see that "jkdefrag" is already running and therefore will not start. You have to rename the first copy also. Or you can start "jkdefrag311" first and "jkdefrag" second.

The "jkdefrag311" version does not write to the renamed logfile because it never get's that far, the already-running check is done before the commandline is interpreted. So it writes a single "already running" line to the default logfile.

Aha, or simply rename all copies. So that none more with jkdefrag than file names exists.

Ok, that is meaningful.
