Depending on which defrag you used, if you used SlowOptimize it will possibly move all files again, FastOptimize.MyD would basically continue where it was.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I need to go to other partition". MyDefrag is designed to be used while you are using your computer, you do not have to wait for it to finish. Maybe you want to pause? Press space, or use the pull-down menu.

I try explain. I have several times installed windows xp pro on the same pc.

Each partition has different functionalities : proofs, work, ocium,.....

Can I pause the defragmentation and continues in other windows system ?

The defragmentation continues this morning and I don't say any indication about the remaining time.

You can pause MyDefrag, but if you stop MyDefrag (for example by rebooting or by logging off) then the program will restart from the beginning the next time you run it. However, the first time you run MyDefrag is always the slowest. The second time will be much faster.

p.s. Please note that MyDefrag will boot-optimize your disk for the currently booted Windows. Not for any other Windows in a multiboot environment. If you run MyDefrag again in another Windows, for the same disk, then the disk will be optimized for that other Windows.

Understood.

Will be the time for that system equal again ?

My intention is prepare a series of scripts equal for all systems.

I can't wait anymore to change to other partition. Perhaps I have to use the more simple scripts because of my situation.

Any recomendation ?

Best Regards.

I think I am doing something bad.

The program don't goes well. It last an eternity.

So many hours. So perfect. My pc must be very slow for this soft.

I'll try with more simple tasks. Or wait for an adaptive version.

Best Regards.

It is normal, that Slow Optimize takes a certain amount of time. Thats why there is the word "slow" in it.  Wink
You can pause or cancel this whenever you want. You data will be safe.

Now, that you have started Slow Optimize already, you should only run FastUpdate from now on. It will be a lot faster.
If you have enough time, you can run Slow Optimize again (usually every month).

For many years I've been using jkDefrag.

I have several systems all this times ago.

At the present moment myDefrag have special scripts.

I will run these scripts both fast o slow option.

It's the same script from any partition.

If I run this script from partition A, and then over partition B it will be the same or it's a different result ?

I ask this because "p.s. Please note that MyDefrag will boot-optimize your disk for the currently booted Windows. Not for any other Windows in a multiboot environment. If you run MyDefrag again in another Windows, for the same disk, then the disk will be optimized for that other Windows.".

It's able to recognize MyDefrag when a data unit was defragmented fromo other system ? I suppose it does.

If you apply always the same criteria I suppose MyDefrag is able to understand that unit is defragmented. Specially because the way to defragment a system vary from the defragment of a data disk, or a security copies disk.

In other words. With the scripts option I will be defragmenting the other system disk in the same way they will be defragmenting from that system. I suppose so.

I would like to understando all these points clearly well.

The "problem" is, that MyDefrag will load a boot optimization list from the OS which is currently running and it will put these in a specific zone.

On the partition A with the current running OS, there will be lots of system files placed in this zone. On the other partition B, this zone will be almost empty.
If you start the OS from partition B and start the script, the same applies here: Big zone on the current OS partition B, small zone on the other partition A.
So, whenever you run MyDefrag from another OS, the work which was done by the previous defragmentation will be made undone!

The best solution would be if you create one script for every OS, which will only defragment the partition where the OS is installed and, of course, only run the script when the OS is currently in use. Only then MyDefrag will get the correct boot optimization list!

Edit: I found a better solution: Replace ImportListFromBootOptimize() with ImportListFromFile("!MountPoint!\Windows\Prefetch\Layout.ini") in the scripts. You can now run the scripts whenever you like. You will always get right boot optimization list.

I was assuming that he has a multiboot environment with multiple Windows versions all on the same partition. In that case it is not necessary to boot into each and every Windows version and run MyDefrag. It is only necessary to run MyDefrag once, in one of the Windows versions. The disk will then be optimized for that Windows, not for the other Windows versions.
