I am using the GUI version of JK Defrag. I unzipped it to the folder C:/Program Files/JK Defrag. Created a short cut for JK Defrag GUI exe . When I launch the program it creates a bunch of files in C:/Documenets and Settings/User Name. I delete the files and they are recreated every time I run the program. These files are duplicates of the files in the program folder. JK Defrag.exe ,JKDefragCmd.exe, jt.exe and others are all being created in the C:/Documenets and Settings/User Name folder every time I run the program. This is happening on two machines. Very strange. Any body else notice this?

It seems to me that the problem is the Shortcut...

Check the shortcut'properties: what it is in "Start in:"? Nothing? Or "C:/Documenets and Settings/User Name"? Problems...

You need to put there the folder'path from "JkDefragGui.exe", like "C:/Program Files/JK Defrag".

You are right it is a short cut problem. This only happens when I use the short cut.

What I did was pin JKDefragGUI.exe to the start menu for easy access. I checked the properties and it is pointing to C:/Program Files/JK Defrag which is where I have the program installed. I don't understand why all these files are being created in C:/Documents and Settings/User Name when I use the short cut?

Anthony A,

If you report a problem with the GUI, mention which GUi you are using (there are several) and please do not refer to a problem with JKDefrag because JKDefrag is made by Jeroen Kessels ..  and the GUI versions are created by other people

OK, I am using your excellent GUI. Version 0.6.

When I unzip your GUI to C:/program Files/ JK Defrag I right click the JKDefragGUI.exe and select "pin to start menu". The short cut that is created when I do this doesn't work properly. When I launch JkDefrag with this short cut it create a bunch of files in C:/Documents and Settings/User Name. The files created are duplicates of the files I unzipped into the program folder. Even after deleting the new files created in C:/Documents and Settings/User Name they get re created every time I launch the program from the start menu short cut.

I fixed this by removing the start menu short cut. Than I went back into the program folder and right clicked the JKDefragGUI.exe and selected create short cut. This created a short cut in the folder. I than right clicked that short cut and selected "pin to start menu". The start menu short cut now works properly.

@Anthony A

This is correct.. because your startmenu uses %USERPROFILE% as a workingfolder .. maybe i should change it to scriptfolder.. thnx for reporting it ..
