You may simple copy MyDefrag program folder into your mobile device and run it
MyDefrag -r <Defragmentation Script>
It is if device is writable. From beta 12 MyDefrag write logfile in program folder ( Huh why).

Hi Jeroen,
what's your opinion about making mydefrag available for inclusion in http://portableapps.com ?
I see they have a wrapper for jkdefrag, but they say about mydefrag:
"It's a shame it went closed source. Unless there's something super-compelling about it, I think we'll stick with the open one. Maybe we can find someone to continue development."
Is there a way to get the wrapper/interoperation going?

I know that JkDefrag was wrapped as a portable app, but it was not by me. I have no idea how to do it. Do they only include open source software? Then I guess it is not possible to wrap MyDefrag, because it is (freeware but) closed source. Personally I would not have a problem with them wrapping MyDefrag as a portableapp and offering it as a download, provided that the MyDefrag license agreement is met, for example that "a full copy of the original MyDefrag v4 distribution" is included".

the /silent switches only allow you to install with no prompts, I would like just the MyDefrag.exe and the scripts in a.zip file on the site with no installer that way i could include it in my ketarin downloader , so it downloads an updated copy to my flash drive and i just extract them to a folder with the ketarin script, the /silent switch doesnt allow me to specify a directory to install to

http://www.whatsmypass.com/tech-toolkit-10 is the ketarin script i am working on that already downloads jkdefrag

See the "/DIR" switch (I haven't tried it myself, it's a default switch from Inno Setup).

I am sorry but at the moment I do not want to make the download available as a zip. I thinks it's a bad idea.

p.s. I do NOT like automatic update things, it would generate a lot of traffic on my website. I have to pay for that, traffic for users is free but traffic for servers is very expensive. Please do not build something that will automatically poll the MyDefrag webserver to look for updates. Also, I think it's a bad idea to just automatically download and install a new version, I am not guaranteeing any downward compatibility.

ketarin basically grabs the html of the download page and compares the version number in the html ,no different in the bandwidth than a person who manually went to the site. I would even say it would use less because it doesnt load the images etc that are on the page, just the html.
the reason for using ketarin is because alot of authors dont want their apps included in a package they want to track the downloads

How often? A person who manually goes to the site will do that perhaps once a week. A program can do it every five seconds, or whatever. Multiply that by a million users and you are talking serious traffic. Also, there are payed banners on the website. I am making a tiny little bit of money from every pageview. As I said before I have to pay for the server, and the banners pay for that, very egalitarian and easy for everybody. But not if a program only fetches the html, ignoring the banners.

Can I publish on my website a portable version of MyDefrag? I'm the author of Lupo PenSuite. If yes, I'll create a software box like this http://www.lupopensuite.com/db/vlcplus.htm ..with a link to this website, with a report of the authorization, keeping the entire software and its license in the package.

I read in FAQ that for a portable use it is needed only MyDefrag.exe file, other files are not needed?

Thanks, very good improvement of JkDefrag! Wink

If "you include a full copy of the original MyDefrag v4 distribution" (see the MyDefrag license agreement) then I have no problem whatsoever if you build and distribute a packaged portable version.
