Will the Settings.MyD script be overwritten whenever MyDefrag is (re)installed?
Based on the comment in Settings.MyD script I'm supposed to put in default settings for my scripts, but if it gets overwritten it would be less useful.

No.
Thanks, I have been burnt by some other programs that had a nice place to put/change defaults and next reinstall all would be gone.  Angry

Hmm, looks like reinstalling beta2 does overwrite the Settings.MyD script.

Ah, hum. Yes, the installer will overwrite the settings if they are of the same program version. I did that because it was handy while developing and testing. But I guess I should take that out. Also I am wondering if it is wise not to overwrite the settings when a new version is installed. It might break the program. Maybe I should include the version number in the name of the default installation directory.

As long as you make a backup of the current Settings.MyD if the user has changed it and tell the user they need to update the new file with their settings, I guess it would be OK to overwrite it, otherwise it would be kinda useless to modify it.

If you don't overwrite the preexisting scripts, it would be nice to still get a copy of the most current default scripts.  Perhaps in a "Default Scripts" subdirectory?
