But suppose the first file of the spacehogs is 100 MB. Does that mean that it would be the one to move? My way it is already at the end, and would not move. Only the smaller spacehogs would move.
But I see your point. I must think about that.

Thanks, cf and jeroen.
cf: yes I realised that after I had sent it off. I thought someone would pick it up, but I was going to mention it otherwise. It was working for me because I had first written the file with the "-a 6" line in it. By way of experimenting. By the time I added the other line, all those files were already at the end of the partition.
jeroen: my understanding of the "-u" option is that it would move the spacehogs to the end of the files, not the end of the partition. That is the way it shows on the screenshot. If they are moved only that far, then another file added lower down would mean moving spacehogs further up. Could mean a lot of moving if they are all large files.
I understand about the command line option now.

Just started using JkDefrag, and I like it.
One limitation: it would be good to have some built-in way of sending rarely-used files, especially large ones, to the end of the partition. I am currently using this BAT file to do it: -
JkDefragCmd.exe -e C:\AVG7QT.dat -e c:\*.hlp -e C:\*.chm -e C:\*.cab -e C:\*.jar C:
JkDefragCmd.exe -a 6 C:\AVG7QT.dat c:\*.hlp C:\*.chm C:\*.cab C:\*.jar
This means that when new files are added, these ones do have to be moved, and are not part of the defrag process. Less time, and less disk work.
Or did I miss something?
When I use a batch file to run JdDefrag, the usual screen does not come up. All the action takes place in the background. By now I don't really need to be able to see it, but it would be nice to have the option.
Using this batch file leaves the odd gap in the defragged areas. Is this a bug? system feature? my mistake somewhere? they are all small, so not really a problem.
My batch file cannot deal with files that should be sent to the end ONLY on account of they are hardly ever used. Is there some way I have missed? Could this feature be added next time?
Keep up the good work.
