Hello, I don't know if anyone suggested this idea before and I don't know if its useful or not. Copying files from one drive to another is relatively faster than physically moving the file within the same disk because the seek times are reduced. Do you think it would be possible to create a safe defragmentation utility that will copy a huge chunk of data to one drive and then copy it back to the original drive without fragmentation?
My original motivation for this idea was to speed up defragmentation and reduce wear and tear of physically moving files back and forth within the same drive.
